Creating beauty with every fold

Hi! I'm Cathy the artist behind Cathy's Curiosities. I'm excited to have this opportunity to introduce you to my art.

Cathy's Curiosities came about in 2015 when MS forced me into medical retirement. I knew that I had to keep my mind and hands busy to keep from being bored while trying to find a way to contribute to our household. The problem is I've never been someone to do 'normal'. So, I allowed my curiosity to lead me down new paths. 

It was down one of these new paths that I rediscovered Traditional Book Folding and fell in love with it all over again. But I knew that I would soon get bored since it is very limiting. So, I started chasing down book artists and discovered one based in England and one based in Scandinavia that were pushing the boundaries of book art. Both agreed to teach me what they were currently perfecting which was the Cut and Fold Technique. The rest as they say is history.

I design all my own pieces and create them by hand. This allows me to create exactly what you're looking for.

Even though rescued books are still my preferred canvas, I have been slowly introducing some of my other artwork at local shows and shops. This includes framed iris folds, Notan studies, origami creations, mixed media pieces and most recently fiber art.
